Preparation instructions for heating MallowCreme®

For a single pouch:

Microwave on HIGH for 2 minutes to start. Please keep in mind that when microwaving pouches it is a good idea to vent the pouch by either clipping off the corner or making a small slit in the top of the pouch. We suggest heating the pouch in a microwavable bowl. As all microwaves require different heating times, we suggest a final temperature between 145º – 165ºF.

Handle hot bags with care. As all microwave ovens vary, times given are approximate.

For several pouches:
Warm Water Bath

Immerse in hot water 185ºF (85ºC) until the product reaches between 145º – 165º F (depending on the amount of water and how many pouches being heated at one time, estimated heating time is roughly 3-5 minutes). Make sure that there is a wire rack or some other barrier between the pouch and the metal sides of whatever item being used to heat the water. If pouches touch the metal sides, they may melt and tear open during heating. Handle hot bags with care. Do not boil the pouches.


Line a tray with pouches. Set steamer to 150ºF if there is a temperature control. Otherwise heat product 10-12 minutes

until the product reaches between 145º – 165º F. Handle hot bags with care.


Preparation instructions for crispy rice cereal bars using MallowCreme™

Depending on the desired yield, these guidelines have been established for using MallowCreme®:

For a thinner bar with a yield of an 18″x13″ pan at approximately 1 ¼” thick:

As MallowCreme is being heated, spray a large mixing bowl, sheet pan and spatulas with Vegalene Premium Food Release Spray. Pour crispy rice into the bowl. See specific instructions above for preparation of one pouch or of several pouches.

Pour heated MallowCreme® over the cereal and incorporate the MallowCreme® with spatula. Using an automatic mixer may crush the cereal. Pour mixture onto a greased baking sheet and spread evenly, as usual. Let cool approximately 2 hours before cutting.

    To keep from sticking, spray everything with Vegalene® food release spray that comes in contact with MallowCreme®, including: Bowls, Spatulas/Deli Spoons, Gloved Hands.

    When mixture is placed in package, do not close package until completely cool. This will help with shelf life

    Finished product freezes well. Can be made ahead!

    When packaging, only lightly press into container for that "fuller look".

    When using MallowCreme® remember that the amount of ingredients needed is based on volume, not weight.

    Crispy Rice: 1 ounce = 1 cup, 20 ounces = 5 quarts,

    Always vent pouches before heating in a microwave.

  • 8.

    Place pouches in a microwave safe bowl to prevent spills.

  • 9.

    Wear protective gloves or mitts when handling hot pouches.


Q. Is MallowCreme® Kosher?

A. Currently a kosher MallowCreme® is not available. We are working on developing a kosher product.

Q. In what size pouches is MallowCreme® available?

A. The standard pouch size is 33.5 oz., which is for use with 20 oz. of crispy rice. One pouch with 20 oz. of crispy rice yields roughly a half bakery sheet at 1.5” thick. A standard case has 8 pouches.
